The mission of the Children and Families
Advisory Board (CFAB) is to promote healthy children and develop strong
families, which contribute to their communities.
The Board meets a minimum of quarterly, consists of nine
members, and is responsible for:
- Assessing and evaluating children and
community needs
- Developing strategies to meet these
needs
- Establishing program outcomes
- Monitoring program compliance
- Advertising funding availability
- Recommending appropriations for various
programs servicing children and families
- Provide advice and recommendations to
the County
Children and
Families Advisory Board funding categories:
- Children:
Child Abuse, Child Development, Juvenile Crime, Substance Abuse,
Health/Safety, Pregnancy, Special Needs
- Community:
Counseling Services, Crisis Intervention, Elderly Care, Emergency
Assistance, Housing/Shelter, Health/Safety, Special Needs
Grant process:
Each grant applicant must address one of the funding categories priority
conditions. An annual competitive grant process is conducted to determine
the programs which will be recommended for funding. Recommendations for
funding are presented to the County Council for approval. Once approved,
the programs enter into a contractual agreement with Volusia County for a
specific grant award and a specific service delivery.
