James (Jim) Dinneen has 31 years of public
administration experience in the Dayton, Ohio, area. He served as city
manager of Dayton (pop. 166,000) from 2002 to 2006, following 10 years
as the assistant county administrator of Montgomery County, Ohio.
While in Dayton, Dinneen led various county and city
departments including Public Works, Solid Waste and Fleet Management. He also served as
senior budget analyst for the City of Dayton in
the early 1980s.
His accomplishments and experience in public
administration include joint economic development projects, direct
authority and responsibility of multi-million dollar public
infrastructure construction projects, including a $23-million regional
downtown theme park, jail and juvenile detention facilities, solid waste
plants and redevelopment of numerous major city buildings.
Dinneen has a master’s degree in Urban and
Regional Planning from the Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State
University and a master’s degree in Public Administration from the
University of Dayton.
