The Volusia County Emergency Medical
Services (EMS) system is a coordinated health care delivery system that
provides immediate, on-scene patient care to those suffering sudden
illness or injury. The pre-hospital component of the EMS system includes
laypersons trained in CPR and Automated External Defibrillation (AED),
Emergency Medical Dispatchers, First Responders, Emergency Medical
Technicians (EMTs), and Paramedics.
